Attorney Katherine Burns

Katherine Burns is the Principal Attorney and Founder of The Law Offices of Katherine Burns, LLC.

Katherine’s passion for estate planning was ignited during an elder law class in her second year of law school, where she wrote an extensive research paper titled, “Wise Women and Their Wealth: From Gendered Problems to Gendered Solutions.” This experience highlighted the critical importance of women finding their own voice in protecting their wealth and legacy for future generations. Now a mother herself, Katherine understands firsthand the peace of mind that comes from having a solid estate plan and has dedicated her career to delivering that same peace of mind to others.

Katherine’s practice focuses exclusively on estate planning and she prides herself on making the estate planning process seamless for her clients. Katherine is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia Fiduciary Section and Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the Georgia State University College of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2015. While pursuing her J.D., Katherine interned at the ACLU of Georgia, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and served as a Graduate Research Assistant for the inaugural Women Lead program offered by the J. Mack Robinson College of Business. Prior to attending law school, Katherine held research and development positions at a variety of education-based nonprofit organizations, including Teach for America and The Ethel Walker School.

Katherine resides in Alpharetta with her husband, son, and their mischievous Tonkinese and Lynx Point Siamese cats. In her spare time, she enjoys practicing yoga, attending performances at the Atlanta Ballet, and supporting philanthropic efforts focused on improving the lives of women and girls around the world.
